Where to find your DNA file
ChromoDot needs the raw data download from your DNA test — a plain text file of your
variants. It's free to download from any of these, takes a few minutes, and you upload the
.zip exactly as it comes (no need to unzip). Already have it? Make your art →

23andMe
.zip → .txt
- Sign in at 23andme.com on a computer (the raw-data export isn't in the app).
- Click your profile icon (top right) → Settings.
- Scroll to the “23andMe Data” section and click View.
- Find “Download raw data”, re-enter your password, and submit the request.
- You'll get an email when it's ready (minutes) — click the link to download the .zip.
Look for the file named like genome_<name>_….zip.

AncestryDNA

- Sign in at ancestry.com on a computer.
- Open the DNA menu → your DNA results → Settings (top-right of the page).
- Under “Download DNA Data”, click Download.
- Confirm your password and tick the consent box.
- Open the confirmation email, click the link, and download the .zip.
The download is usually called AncestryDNA.zip.

MyHeritage
.zip → .csv
- Sign in at myheritage.com on a computer.
- Open the DNA menu → Manage DNA kits.
- Click the three-dot (⋯) menu next to your kit → Download kit.
- Confirm — MyHeritage emails you a secure download link.
- Open the email and download the .zip (it contains a
.csv).
Named like MyHeritage_raw_dna_data.zip — upload it as-is.
🔒 However you get it, your file stays with you. ChromoDot reads it in your browser to
draw the art — it's never uploaded or stored. You can even turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads.
Menus at the providers change from time to time; if a label is slightly different, look for
anything that says “raw data” or “download”.
